What is the difference in between classic eyelash extensions and Russian volume technique?
Here at Lash Magician we aim to get the perfect set of lashes for each individual to leave you feeling gorgeous and a more glamorous. Whichever technique you decide to go with, you will always leave us with a high quality, classy and neat look. The Lash Magician’s would never create a clumpy of overloaded drag queen look – we want you looking classy and beautiful!
Classic lash extensions can often be a great first step into the lash world for a natural look and we call it the “perfect mascara” look. They are applied one on one on the top of your natural lashes. This means the final result depends on the amount of lashes you naturally have, giving an overall look of enhancement of your natural lashes. It does not create too much fullness or thickness but instead gives the constant mascara-wearing look on an everyday basis. You will definitely notice a big difference, which will also save you time when getting ready as you won’t need to apply mascara. This is a great day-to-day option and makes you look like you have amazing naturally big and beautiful lashes – what more could a girl ask for?
Russian volume technique is a much more advanced skill which we also specialise in it at Lash Magician. The fibres and hairs in these handmade lashes are much more similar to your natural lash in texture, as they are super soft and lightweight creating a beautiful, fluffy look. You have the choice of going for a more natural look (with 2 lashes per fan) which gives the impression you are just wearing mascara and have perfect natural lashes, or a opting for a fuller, more glamorous look with a larger fan (with up to 6 lashes per fan) for a more dramatic effect. There is a lot to play with using this technique and it can create very different looks. As with the classic lashes, we are extremely careful in making sure we never damage your natural lash condition at all when we apply the fans to each your natural lashes.
How long do eyelash extensions last? Are they permanent?
This really depends on what overall look you are going for. If you love having nice and full lashes all of the time, it is advised that you book infill’s with the Lash Magician’s every 2.5 – 3.5 weeks. If you don’t choose to get infill’s, your lashes will gradually be lost within 4 – 6 weeks and you will be left with your natural lashes, looking exactly the same and they did before your appointment with us. This is because our natural lashes are hair, so we lose and grow them back in the same way as we do on our head. On average, we shed 2 – 5 lashes par day, making the normal lash cycle about 6 – 7 weeks. This sadly means eyelash extensions do not last forever – although it would be great if they did, right?
Can I wet my lashes?
You should not wet your lashes for the first 24 hours after your lash treatment because eyelash extensions adhesive glue cures in layers and it takes 24 hours to complete this process and water or high humidity can interrupt the curing so they might fall off quickly. After that your lashes are 100% waterproof and we highly recommend to gently wash your eyelids and lashes with a special foamy lash cleanser at least as often as you wash your hair to avoid a build up of natural oils and dead skin. So your lash extensions will be waterproof but never oil proof. Removing natural oils from your eyelids will actually help to your eyelash extensions last longer and will make you save time and money for your infill services. Do make sure you cleanse your lashes regularly because our lashes are hair and clean lashes mean healthy and long lasting lashes!
How do I look after eyelash extensions?
It is pretty easy to look after your lash extensions. All you need to do, is follow few simple steps every morning to wake up looking stunning and fresh and you will not have to worry about applying eye makeup every day – sounds amazing, right? So here are the things to know:
– Do not touch your lashes for the first 3 hours
– Do not wet your lashes for the first 24 hours after treatment. You can have a shower, but just make sure the water is not running over your eyes and it’s not too hot and steamy (as humidity can damage them).
– Absolutely no oily products around your lashes, as this degrades the adhesive bond! Be careful of oily moisturisers, oil face cleansers, concealers and your eye makeup. Also always use oil free eye makeup remover(check ingredients as it is common for brands to say it’s oil- free but when you actually look at the ingredients there is oil in them). Do not use micellar water, we know it says it is oil free but it actually has oil in it which will damage your lashes.
Micellar water and eyelash extensions – the need to knows
The Lash Magician’s are hot on the latest trends in beauty and how they can work with eyelash extensions – or not! We have noticed recently that there has been a lot of talks on beauty blogs around using micellar water which is a fantastic product to get rid of make as the micelles are attracted to the oil and other substances on the face. But ladies, this is not a good idea to use on your eyelash extensions as it has been proven that some formulations in the micellar water contain oils and these little micelles can be your lashes worst enemy. They can be very damaging to the glue keeping your lashes on so please do not rush to use this if you would like to keep your lashes looking full and beautiful. As we spoke about before, oils are the number one enemy of last extensions and there are a lot of products that contain it without us knowing. At Lash Magician, we could recommend checking the ingredients list carefully before using anything on your lashes or the eye area in order to give keep your lashes looking beautiful for longer. See below for some hot tips to get the best out of your eyelash extensions
– Do not use mascara as it will be very hard to remove and will affect the bonding of your lashes. P.S. you won’t even need it as you will have gorgeous, full looking eyelashes without the effort of mascara.
– Remove any eye makeup gently using a cotton bud (with oil-free eye makeup remover – as your know ;)). Make sure you wipe away from the lash bases.
– Avoid touching your lashes as much as possible
– Do not try to curl your extensions. You won’t need to and all this will do is damage them.
– Wash them a few times a week (particularly before infills) with a recommended lash shampoo. Please ask a Lash Magician for advice on the best shampoos.
– Listen to your Lash Magician’s advice on how long and think the extensions can be for optimum lash health
What is complete brow make over (HD brows)?
We all know the importance of lashes and how they create a beautiful, glamorous and effortless look. But, good looking eyebrows add tremendous value to your face making it look symmetrical, fresh and always on trend. Like curtains in a room, eyebrows act like a frame to your face. HD brows gives an even higher definition to your brows which is achieved through a set of steps, which will follow. You will have a consultation about your preferences and concerns, before your senior brow technician will take measurements and give you suggestions about what will work best for you. You will then go through the following process: tinting with an agreed colour, waxing using sensitive wax, threading, tweezing and trimming and finally brow make up application. The Lash Magician’s are able to give you beautiful brows that make all the difference to your face and look. Please remember however your brows are sisters and not twins and in nature there is no 100% of symmetry anywhere.
Do eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?
Let’s set this straight ladies – eyelash extensions will never ruin your natural lashes if they are done professionally by a properly trained and experienced technician. In fact, it is actually much healthier for your natural lashes as it means you won’t have to wear mascara on a daily basis, which means your lashes won’t be covered and have room to breathe. Here at Lash Magician, we can assure you we take every bit of care and responsibility in assuring your natural lashes will not be damage in any way, shape or form. Please make sure you choose your lash technician wisely as once you damage your natural lashes it can be extremely hard to grow them back and it isn’t a worth wile trade – you only get one pair of lashes so make sure you look after them and give them the best. At Lash Magician we guarantee to choose you the right length and weigh according to your natural lash condition and we never overload lashes. We would love for you to be able to continue to get your lashes done in the long term so we want to ensure your natural lashes are continuously kept healthy. Why do I need a patch test?
On a very rare occasion, some people find they are allergic to Cyanoacrylate, an ingredient found in most of lash extensions adhesives. To find out if you are allergic or not, you should do a patch test at least 24 hours prior your appointment. The patch test takes as little as 10 minutes and during that time we apply a couple of eyelash extensions onto each eye and we test all the products we use during eyelash treatment. It’s really important to do a patch test as your eyes are such a delicate area and we must avoid anything to going wrong. If on the rare occasion, you find you are allergic to Cyanoacrylate, we have a medical grade BIO glue which is safe for allergies.
Do eyelash extensions hurt?
Not at all! Eyelash services are just as relaxing as massage and most of the times our clients just simply have a beauty nap, relax from every day routine and have time just to themselves. The best bit is, once you have woken up you can take a look in the mirror and see your amazing new lashes!
